Osmannoro is a flat area which lies to the west of Florence and is part of the municipality of Sesto Fiorentino. The place name perhaps should come from two terms of Etruscan origin osmen which means embankment and nor which means river pointing to the perennial danger of floods which had submitted the area was low and crossed by many rivers.
